Saucy Baby Prawns

So, this is a fusion recipe between a traditional desi (Indian) marinade and some new spices. Hope you enjoy, I will be showing sides that would go great with this dish, I didn't make the sides this time, I was cooking for my granny and myself and she doesn't eat the sides.

CAN BE SERVED WITH:
  1. Crispy Salad and Chips
  2. Noodles
  3. White Rice
I used ready cleaned small prawns (woolies), rinse them and pat them dry. Drizzle them with lemon juice and leave on the side.

Marinade (mix in a small bowl):
  • Lemon juice
  • Salt & Fresh Black Pepper
  • Red Chilli (paste)
  • Garlic Sauce
  • Dry Fish Spice (sold in woolies) [If you can't find you can use the one from the Robertson's bottle, if you can't get that than any fish spice]
  • Bit of the Dabba Masalas (cumin seeds, coriander seeds, paprika, turmeric).
Prawns Preparation:
  1. Now in a pot, melt some butter in olive oil.
  2. Than add mustard seeds and let it get a bit brown.
  3. Than add some garlic (if you have fresh garlic make it into a paste) and some ground almonds, braise in the butter mix.
  4. When the garlic as cooked for a minute or 2, add the marinade in the pot and a little water and cook the marinade.
  5. When you see your mix starts boiling add the prawns to the pot and stir well, making sure the marinade mixes well with the prawns.
  6. When it starts boiling, turn down the heat of the stove and leave to cook till nearly down.
  7. While your prawns are cooking boil a tomato till it's skin starts peeling away. Than take the skin off and blitz it up making it into a puree.
  8. When your prawns are nearly fully cooked add the tomato to the pot and cook for long till the tomato has fully cooked.
  9. 10 minutes before serving add some fresh cream, now I cooked for 2 people so I only added 2-3 Tb of the cream. Be careful not to add so much fresh cream, see according to how much you are cooking.
That's literally all you need to do. Garnish with some mustard seeds and coriander leaves just before serving and enjoy this delicious saucy baby prawns recipe.
