Krispy Cream Doughnuts
Tuesday, December 30, 2014
Mum and I made this in the weekend, to surprise my small cousins. Can never go wrong with doughnuts, the sugar and cinnamon ones are my mum and granny's favourite, they remind her of Saudi. This is quite an easy recipe, I will say the batch is quite big, but you can use different glazes and toppings, the list is endless and its all about preference. We also put some strawberry jam on some for my dad.
INGREDIENTS
2 1/4 tsp yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 1/2 cup luke warm milk
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
5 cups flour
- Add 2 cups flour, yeast, salt and sugar.
- In another bowl add the eggs, milk, water and stir with the dry ingredients above.
- Beat the mix for 5 minutes till smooth, than leave to rest for 5 minutes.
- Gradually, add the rest of the flour and the butter and make a dough.
- Knead till soft, cover up and leave to raise till its double in size.
- Roll the dough out and use a doughnut cutter to shape cut the dough up than fry in oil till golden.
- Now you can have fun with this, use what ever topping you want to sweeten up your doughnuts.
I will say if you want the cinnamon and castor sugar dip in the mix the minute you take it out of the fryer so it sticks.
You can make a chocolate glaze with (melted chocolate, butter and a bit of hot water)
Water icing glaze (castor sugar with hot water, and a little food colouring to spice it up)
