Crispy Potato Roses With Homemade Potato Seasoning
Monday, October 27, 2025"Potatoes can totally be a love language, right?
I think so"
You can
never have too many potato spice blends in your kitchen, and today I'm
sharing my ultimate go-to Homemade Potato Seasoning. I've been
playing around with this blend for years. Some months ago, my sister got me her go-to M&S Roasted Potato Seasoning. Naturally, I had to share my version with you all, especially if you love homemade blends or can't get your hands on the M&S Seasoning!
This seasoning is a flavour-packed blend that makes everything from crispy
potato wedges to oven-baked or air-fried potatoes taste
irresistible. I love that a little goes a long way, you can store it in an
empty spice jar for easy use, and you can even tweak it to suit your own
taste buds. Whether you're roasting potatoes for a Sunday dinner,
baking wedges for a midweek side dish, or looking for the
best potato spice blend for your air
fryer, this one will hit the spot every time.
And because I couldn't just share the blend without giving it a glamorous
stage, I paired it with these
crispy potato roses, buttery
soft in the middle, with perfectly golden, crunchy edges.
They may look like a culinary masterpiece, but they're surprisingly
fuss-free and bake beautifully in the oven. Perfect for dinner parties, or when you want to bring a little
wow factor to your table.
This recipe makes about 1/4 cup of seasoning, and 2 - 3 tablespoons is
enough for four servings of roasted potatoes or potato wedges. So, not only
are you getting the recipe for a stunning potato side dish, but also a
versatile
potato seasoning recipe from scratch,
you'll want to sprinkle on everything.

Ingredients
Homemade Potato Seasoning
4 Tbsp Semolina (can substitute with breadcrumbs)
2 tsp Garlic Powder
2 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Paprika
1/2 tsp Red Chilli Flakes
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Cracked Black Pepper
1 tsp Dry Parsley
Potato Roses
3 - 4 Potatoes
2 - 3 Tbsp Oil
Method With Pictures
1. Add all the homemade seasoning spices to a bowl, mix well, and set
aside. You can store the blend in an empty spice jar to use whenever you
need it.
2. Thinly slice the potatoes; they need to be super thin so they bend
easily around the cupcake or muffin tin. A mandolin slicer makes this quick
and consistent.
3. Pat the potato slices dry with a paper towel to remove any excess
moisture, then place them in a bowl.
4. Drizzle 1 Tbsp of olive oil and generously coat both sides of each slice
with the homemade potato seasoning.
5. Next, grease each cupcake or muffin tin hole, then stand your seasoned
potato slices upright inside the hole, slightly overlapping and curving them
around the edge to form a ring. Keep layering more slices inside the ring,
overlapping as you go, using the smaller slices closer to the centre, until
the hole is filled and looks like a full, blooming rose with the edges
peeking above.
6. Sprinkle more of the homemade seasoning on top of the roses so they're
well coated, before drizzling 1 teaspoon of olive oil over each one.
7. Place in a preheated oven at 200°C and roast for 20 - 30 minutes, until
golden with perfectly crispy edges.
8. Garnish with a sprinkle of dried parsley and serve hot.
